6/16/2008 - Identity Sought-Fraud Suspect

Anchorage Police are trying to identify this woman who is suspected of using a stolen credit card at the Huffman Carrs on June 6, 2008.  She is a white female, in her late teens to early twenties with red hair.  If you have information as to the identity of this person, call Crime Stoppers at 561-7867, or submit your tip anonymously using this website.

1/26/2008 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage police are investigating the death of a man found inside a burning apartment located at 6135 East Tudor Road.

The fire broke out at about 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008. After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters discovered the charred remains of the former tenant, 29-year-old Brandon Wilson. Wilson had lived in the apartment with his wife until January 22, 2008, when a small fire forced them to move out. Detectives believe this fire was intentionally set and are investigating the death as a homicide.

9/23/2007 - Vehicle/Pedestrian Hit and Run

 

 

On Sunday, August 23, 2007, at shortly after midnight, Garon James Koozaata, age 48, was struck by an unknown vehicle in the area of Debarr Road and Norene Street in east Anchorage.  A passing motorist discovered Koozaata and notified police.  Koozaata remains at a local hospital in critical condition suffering from head and torso trauma.  Koozaata is an Anchorage resident from St. Lawrence Island.

9/17/2007 - Unsolved Murder

Mindy Schloss was last seen at her home on Cutty Sark Street at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007.  Schloss is a nurse and frequently flies to Fairbanks to visit patients.  She missed her August 5th flight out of Anchorage and all of her appointments thereafter.  Schloss` vehicle, a red 2000 Acura Integra hatchback, was found in the area  of 4370 Old International Airport Road (near Alaska Air Cargo) on August 9, 2007.  Her body was found on Thursday, September 13 in In Wasilla off of Knik-Goosebay Road and South Partch Road.  An autopsy was conducted and confirmed that she was a victim of homicide.  In addition to the $1,000 being offered by Crime Stoppers, friends of Mindy Schloss have partnered with Victims For Justice and are offering a reward of over $8,000 for information leading to the arrest and charge of the person responsible for her death.  Donations to the reward fund are being accepted at any branch of North Rim bank under the account VFJ-Mindy Schloss.  Tipsters MUST make their initial report to Crime Stoppers to be eligible for the $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward.


9/15/2007 - Vehicle/Double Pedestrian Hit and Run

Anchorage Police are looking for the person responsible for a recent vehicle/double pedestrian hit and run.

The collision occurred on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at about 3:00 a.m. Two pedestrians, Ken Felton, 60, of Washington and Russell Hanner, 32, of Anchorage, were walking in the area of 36th Avenue and Spenard Road when a vehicle approached from behind and struck them both. Felton was critically injured and suffered head trauma, and multiple fractures to the ribs, hips and leg. Hanner suffered head trauma.

According to evidence at the scene, the suspect vehicle most likely made a sharp right turn and clipped a pole before driving up on the sidewalk and striking both men and will have damage to the front grill and passenger side as well as a broken passenger-side mirror.

8/15/2007 - Suspicious Death

Anchorage Police are conducting an investigation into a suspicious death.  On August 14, 2007, at about 6:00 a.m., a motorist traveling southbound on the Seward Highway observed the lifeless body of a man lying under the guardrail at mile 113 near the Potter Scales.

 

The decedent was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office where an autopsy was conducted August 15.  The victim has been identified as Nickline Percy Noatak, age 37.  Noatak did not have a permanent address, but frequented the Brother Francis Shelter.

 

Detectives spoke with acquaintances who said Noatak had been last seen on August 13 in the downtown Anchorage area.

 

Detectives are asking for help from the public in determining the whereabouts of Noatak during the evening of August 13 or the early morning hours of August 14, 2007.

7/3/2005 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage Police are looking for information to help solve the murder of Oleg "Al" Bohlouli which occurred in early July 2005. Bohlouli, 45, was shot and killed inside his home on Lucky road at about 3a.m. on July 3,2005. A witness inside the home told police that an unknown man had broken into the home, shot Bohlouli, and fled. The family is offering a reward in addition to the $1,000 reward being offered by Crime Stoppers.


11/8/2003 - Unsolved Murder
On November 8, 2003, 15-year-old Ann Saephan was with a group of friends in the parking lot of the Space Station Video Arcade, located at 2710 Spenard Road. Unknown person fired shots, one of which struck Ann, killing her. 9/6/2003 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage Police are investigating the death of 32-year-old Michelle Rothe whose remains were found on September 6, 2003, in the waters of the Turnagain Arm near the Oceanview residential subdivision. Detectives believe she was murdered sometime between June and July 2003. 6/18/2003 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage Police are investigating the murder of 22-year-old Desiree Michelle Lekanoff whose partial remains were found on June 18, 2003 in the waters of the Turnagain Arm near Beluga Point. Lekanoff had been listed as a missing person since December 2001. 10/12/2002 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage Police are looking for the person responsible for a shooting that claimed one life and wounded two others. On Saturday, October 12, 2002, just before 2:00 a.m., an arguement ended in gun fire in the parking lot of the VFW club located in Muldoon at 101 Oklahoma Street. 21-year-old Louis DeJesus III was killed during the shooting. 2/19/2002 - Unsolved Murder

Anchorage Police need the publics help in solving the murder of Richard James Carns. On February 19, 2002, at about 6 a.m., a man broke into the home where Carns was staying located at 1905 Orca Street. Richard Carns confronted the intruder who pulled out a gun and began shooting. Carns was fatally shot and died at the scene. 3/22/2000 - Unsolved Murder

The body of Genevieve Tetpon was found on March 22, 2000, along the frontage road leading to Arctic Valley. An autopsy revealed that she had been stabbed to death. 1/11/2000 - Unsolved Murder
The body of Helen Kinegak was found outside of 341 N. Lane in the early morning hours of January 11, 2000. An autopsy revealed that she died from massive internal injuries. 11/29/1999 - Unsolved Murder
On November 29, 1999, Henry Ongtowasruk was found dead in his room at the Budget Motel by motel management. He had been strangled. Anchorage Police are asking for your help in solving this homicide.
